Brodericks in the sunny south east...

8:30am
Spar Barrack St - The home of the blaa
Met Jim, the owner of a couple of Spar shops in Waterford and made a new version of the famous blaa- an oozy drippy made solid blaa...... very tasty

11am
Beat fm
Niall, Vincent and Mary from the breakfast crew sat into Minxy for a picture and then we recorded a little piece for the news during the day- We left them with plenty of Rocky Road, Tiffen and Caramel and they gave us a great shout out throughout the day- Fair play guys

11.30am
Spar, Waterford IT
We popped into a shop where the Brodericks bars are flying off the shelves.... and then we popped into Global Leadership and gave a quick lecture.... I think the students were delighted with the distraction on a friday- plenty of hangovers!!

12
Bausch and Lomb
Another 500 mini-bites disappeared in less than an hour!

1pm
Genzyme
.........and another 500................. we must have fed half the county at this stage!

3pm

We loaded up Minxy and headed back towards Dublin...... what a week! thanks so much to all the Spar shops, Aramark catering sites, radio stations and most importantly, the loyal fans and customers of Brodericks brothers bars- it's been epic!

Cork, Thursday, January 20th

CORK JUST GOT BRODERICKISED!

7am
Radisson, Little Island
Hit the gym after an 8 hour sleep- must have produced at least 4,000 zzzz's last night after day 3 coaxing Minxy around Limerick- had huge fry immediately afterwards!

9am
Spar, Mount Oval, Rochestown
Met a few great characters out here.... Ann from the deli in Spar spots my shiny head and pipes up... "Jaysus love, you're not half as bad looking in real life!" Thanks love!
Outside we found the original owner of Minxy- well he wasn't the original owner but he had a '56 Minx that he used to bring calves to market in- he offered to re-construct but warned us that the smell might stay around for a while!!

12pm
Apple, Knnnnnooccccccckkkkkaaaaa!!
Met the Campbell catering crew looking after the Apple workers. Supplied them all with mini bites of the Brodericks bars which they LOVED..... We only made up these for this tour but it turns out that all the companies are interested in using these for hospitality... some of the best discoveries are made by accident eh

12:45pm
MINXY had to go to hospital
I felt bad as poor Minxy had to take a trip to Dr Peters Den after the last 4 days took their toll....a bust exhaust ment she sounded like a clapped out twin cam- hope to see you soon as we head off out to Dupuy without you...

2pm
Spar, East Gate, Little Island
Met into my old buddies from the Apprentice, Kieran Walsh aka Flipper and Dave Cashman aka Cashy.... ha a right laugh and got loads of people into the pics with our giant Chilly Brr Brr...

3.30pm
BOI, South Mall
We tried to cheer up the workers in BOI- they were all delighted to get plenty of free chocolate as I'm sure the perks aren't what they used to be in there!!!

4:30pm
Red fm, 104-106fm
Met all the crew in Corks fave radio station- gave them plenty of free bars and got pics in studio...
brilliant and got a nice plug... thx guys

Off to Waterford now....................

Wednesday January 19th

LIMERICK BOY!

8:00am
As we awoke from our slumber in the Maldron in Roxboro to the smell of bonfire from the previous nights activities, Peter our trusty mechanic went out to warm up Minxy and make sure she was in good order for the day ahead. The drivers door was wide open and there was defo a visitor in the night- However I think the fact that we hadn't locked the door and there was no real challenge in starting her was actually her saving grace- Had there been an alarm and immobiliser fitted to Minxy, I reckon we were in trouble!!

9:00am
Mary Immaculate, Limerick
This place resembled a ghost town with all our future teachers still on Christmas holidays- well for them eh... We dropped in a few samples to the staff on site and made sure they had some chocolate niceness to go with their morning brew. It turned out that a couple of the other Arramark sites in Limerick were also still closed so in the words if the virgin Mary, Brodericks..... Come again!

10am
Gleesons Spar, Henry St
Met Micheal Gleeson here as well as a journalist and photographer from the Limerick Leader and gave away hundreds more mini bites of Brodericks to the folk of Luimneach. Stopped in for a few minutes into the home of Munster Rugby:

Billy hangs his head in shame!

11:30am
Gleesons Spar, Catherine St
Paid a trip to another of the Spar shops run by the Gleeson family- Boy do these guys know how to run a good operation- these shops along with their Castletroy unit are examples of how to run a good shop ad deli- Great hot food and plenty of activity- fairplay lads- extra Brodericks bars for you lot!

1pm
Limerick Institute of Technology
Met Karen from Campbell Catering in LIT- at last we found some students that weren't still on holidays... We're still waiting for all you lot in LIT to post those pics on facebook....... free chocolate............  hmmmmmm.....

2pm
Lulu's cafe, Catherine St
We stopped into Lulus cafe, which is next door to Gleesons Spar. We met into Ger, the owner and had great craic with him- he was inspirational- Opened up this coffee shop over 18 months ago with only the money for a few bits of timber and paint- Got a load of friends and family to get the place in shape for free and he has this place rocking- its easily the friendliest cafe/deli I've ever been in- we also have a pic of Ger and a few of his regulars from the Limerick Leader tucking into a Chilly Brr Brr! All the best Ger

4pm
Glenstal Abbey
Check out the video footage and pictures that we have of this place! Incredible- Billy met Fr Fintan in town and he asked us to pop out- Billy and the Brodericks Bros know Fintan through his own chocolate company- Glenstal Abbey Truffles- and they taste amazing- he showed us around the abbey and brought us in for tea and homemade bikkies- it was a great experience....

7pm
Time to head to Cork........ as well as organising the upcoming VINYL
RIP; It was also a very sad moment as we said goodbye to our Assistant Director, Michelle - Au revoir!

Tuesday- Galway- Mentalness!

5:30am
Alarm on phone is not my friend!

6:30am
We're trying to get into the Rte studios in 2fm and Alan the producer for the hector show is on the way down to us... hopefully we can get to see hector and feed him some chocolate incredibleness

6:55am
Hector wasn't up in the studio when we got there but as we left the building we copped this fella in a beanie hat rocking up the street towards us- instantly knew it was Hector so we went over to greet him and definitely scared the bejaysus out of him! When we told him about our gig he was loving it and called up Jibber and the boys from the county council- Even though the bould Jibber is a big Pool fan we still drowned them in Brodericks bars- hopefully they went down well with the rest of the lads! Hector stood in for a pic- Legend- Keep her lit my auld flower

9:00am
Spar, Eyre Square- Met Michael Kearney from the store and stocked him up with plenty of bars.... We had a right auld chat about how Fahy, the TD had been thrown out of a talk in the city last night... the fella that ran the cement lorry into the Dail announced that he is thinking of running against him in the upcoming election!! HMMMMMMM think we should drive a Brodericks lorry into Leinster house with Bernard driving and Barry sitting on the roof!!

11am
Spar, Mainguad st- Handed out loads of free tasters while Peter the mechanic/film director ensured that a Frog with a backpack didn't elope with Michelle our assistant director and Minxy- He probably would have left both back by 11:03am!!

12:30pm
NUIG- We pulled up in the convoy outside the canteen and started handing out free bars and bites to the malnourished students of this fabulous institution- We gave away 1,000 bars in less than 2 hours! Then we had a brainwave...............

2pm
Over oodles of noodles provided by our over-enthusiastic Cork chef, an off the wall question of what we would do for €10,000 turned into potentially the most interesting meeting of 2011! Lets get naked in Salthill and make a VINYL!

Hector mentions the Broderick's Chocolate Convoy on his morning show..

Photos from Day 1 - Dublin

Here are some photos from our 1st day on the tour. We were delighted to drop in some goodies to Sarah Jane at the Irish Dairy Board, Seana at ESB and Lucia at the central bank. We had to drag Courtney away from the girls..!

Ireland V Greece in a Euro 2012 friendly...

Deal or No Deal? A kiss for a Broderick's mug.... The man from Greece says Yes!

Some of the Girls outside Spar in Dublin. Did Billy get any hugs?

Straight swap - A Broderick's bar for your bus?

Courtney goes everywhere with his giant bar....

Exciting 1st day on the tour. Some auld fella on the N3 just shouted out the window at us... "I was born in the same year as that Minx". If i get the Chocolate Rocket into 2nd gear, i can't get her into 3rd and vice versa...... town driving in this is like a days work in itself... but it's all worth it eh! Hopefully not too many gardai are on my facebook but the Chocolate Rocket just tipped 71mph (on the m50!!) and if a member of the traffic corps is reading this, I am of course, taking the mick......

Looking forward to the trip to Galway tomorrow...
Jamie

Morning Departure

7am Departure - The Broderick's convoy takes off...

The van is packed with Brodericks bars, the jeep is packed with clean socks and jocks and the car is packed with ...... kitchen towel to de-fog the windows????? Here comes the chocolate chip convoy! I think I'll just call the Hillman Minx, Minxy from here on...... it's cute and pink like a girl and on most cold mornings her excuse is.... I'm too tired!!

Minxy doesn't like hill-starts.....
